Images with 10:17 aspect ratio will cover much more screen space. No modified apps or hacked accounts are used in this process. No additional installed software is needed - only an internet connection and web browser are required. Keep in mind that currently on iOS, all extra large images will appear cropped to 4:5 once uploaded, but these images can be viewed at full resolution (2:3, 9;16, 10:17, etc.) when pinching to zoom. Android devices can view full images by default without having to zoom in. This is a design choice by Instagram and cannot be controlled by users.
